3 Tips For Moving With Elevators

If you are fortunate enough to have elevators available to you for your move, you are in luck! Elevators can really help move things along quickly and prevent your moving crew from getting fatigued on the stairs. But simply hauling everything to the elevator might not be the best way. Today's blog will give you a few tips that will help make the most out of moving with an elevator.
1. Use dollies, hand trucks, appliance dollies, and carts
Using the proper equipment when it is appropriate to do so will save you time and money. Normally, carrying an armoire up or down some stairs will require at least two movers. By using a furniture dolly, however, you can have two movers load it up and make sure it is stable, and then just one mover to bring it out to the truck. Not only does it reduce the necessary labor, but it will help fight off fatigue.
2. Reserve the elevator whenever possible
One drawback to using elevators for a move can be waiting. If you are in a busy building with a high-traffic elevator, it can really slow things down quite a bit. For some places, especially places with multiple elevators, you can reserve the elevator for your move. You should be able to speak with a property manager or concierge to arrange your meeting. Make sure you let them know a week or two in advance. The busier the building, the tougher it can be to make your reservation.
3. Completely Fill The Elevator Before Moving It
Rather than loading up the one or two pieces that you have and bringing those to the floor they need to go to, you can save time by loading as much as will fit into the elevator. By completely filling the space each time, you will reduce the number of trips up and down you will need to make in the elevator. This will ultimately save you time and money during your move.
